Starting today, you can run the money side of your cannabis business from the AI you already use. Connect ChatGPT, Claude or Meta Muse to ShelfSpace, and you can ask it anything about your invoices, payments, credits and vendors, then tell it what to do. It answers from your real data and does the work in your account. We believe ShelfSpace is the first cannabis finance platform you can run this way.
Illustrative example. Demo store, fictional vendors.
Why this matters for a dispensary
Cannabis back-office work lives in too many places. Invoices come in by email. The real record of what arrived is in Metrc. The books are in QuickBooks. Credits live in a spreadsheet somebody keeps meaning to update. Getting a straight answer to “what do we owe Verdant Hill, and is it right?” can take an afternoon of tabs and exports.
ShelfSpace already pulls all of that into one place. Now your AI can reach it too. The question that took an afternoon takes one sentence, and the follow-up (“ask them for a corrected invoice”) takes another.
Everything you can do in ShelfSpace, you can do from a chat. You don't have to log in, click through screens, or export anything to Excel.
If you run a dispensary (ShelfPay)
- Pay vendors. See what's due, what's ready and what's blocked, line up the week's payments, and send them within limits your company sets.
- Match invoices to Metrc. Pull any invoice with its Metrc manifest, line by line, and get a plain-English reason for every mismatch.
- Run credit recovery. Returns, destroyed product and price drops on each vendor's monthly credit memo, plus who has approved and who is pushing back.
- Keep QuickBooks caught up. What synced, what's waiting and why, so a stuck bill gets fixed before your bookkeeper finds it.
- Write to vendors. Ask for a corrected invoice, a missing copy or a credit, with the numbers already in the note.
- Upload invoices and documents. Hand your AI a photo or PDF and it lands in the right store for review.
- Settle consignment. Weekly settlements, splits and returns, explained line by line.
If you run a brand (ShelfCollect)
Brands get the other side of the same conversation. Your AI sees every invoice you've sent, who has paid, who hasn't, and whether each order matches the buyer's accepted Metrc manifest.
Illustrative example. Fictional stores and amounts.
- Chase past-due invoices. Who owes you, how much and how late, by store and by sales rep, ranked so you know who to chase first.
- Send invoices, statements and reminders. From your billing address, with a pay link in every one.
- Track promises to pay. When a buyer commits to a date, your AI knows, and tells you the morning it slips.
- Prove every invoice shipped. Each invoice matched to the buyer's accepted Metrc manifest, so "we never got it" ends the conversation.
- See cash coming in. Payments received, partial payments and payment plans, and what's due next week.
- Know your best and worst payers. Days to pay by store, by chain and by rep.
For both
- Keep QuickBooks caught up. What synced, what's waiting and why.
- Analyze and export. Filter and sort deliveries, line items, purchase orders, payments, credits and sales any way you like, then export to CSV.
How to connect, in three steps
Add ShelfSpace to your AI
In ChatGPT or Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector, and paste https://ourshelf.space/api/mcp. In Meta Muse, register an app in ShelfSpace under Settings, AI agents, and paste its Client ID and Secret.
Sign in and pick your stores
Your normal ShelfSpace login and verification code, one time. Choose the stores your AI may use, then click Allow.
Start asking
Try “Which of my stores can you see?” Then ask the question you actually have.
Safe enough for money
Connecting an AI to your finances should make you ask hard questions. Here are the answers:
- It signs in as you. No shared password, and it never holds a database key.
- It sees only the stores you pick. Every other store stays invisible to it.
- It gets your role and nothing more. A read-only person gets a read-only AI.
- Payments follow your rules. A person confirms each payment, or your AI pays within per-payment and per-day limits you set. Bank-detail changes always need a person.
- Everything is on the record. Every action is logged as done by your AI, and your team sees the badge in ShelfSpace.
- Off in one click. Disconnect it in Settings and it loses access immediately.
For the technical reader
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to reach outside tools. ShelfSpace implements it directly, and exposes the same tools as a plain web API, so there is one pipeline with two front doors.
| MCP server | https://ourshelf.space/api/mcp, Streamable HTTP |
| Auth | OAuth 2.1, authorization code + PKCE (S256), refresh tokens |
| Discovery | RFC 8414 and RFC 9728 well-known metadata |
| Clients | Dynamic registration (RFC 7591), client ID metadata documents, or a confidential app registered in Settings |
| Scopes | shelfspace.read, shelfspace.act |
| REST | POST /api/agent/v1/tools/{tool} with an OpenAPI 3.1 file at /api/agent/v1/openapi.json |
